Recently, there has been an increase in the number of ticks in Europe due to warming. Ticks are carriers of encephalitis, Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis, anaplasmosis, babesiosis and other serious diseases that are very difficult to treat.

So that you or your four-legged pet don't have to give up the experience of being outdoors, we have developed a special Prolen® IXO polypropylene fibre that reduces the possibility of being infested by the IXODES Ricinus - the tick most commonly found in Europe. This fibre contains natural substances that are non-irritating to humans and animals, it is made on a natural base without pesticides and synthetic repellents. It was developed in Slovakia by Chemosvit Fibrochem, s.r.o. in cooperation with the Institute of Parasitology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, the University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice and the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the P.J. Šafárik University in Košice.

Prolen® IXO fibre is treated with a repellent based on natural substances, active ingredient: decanoic acid (decanoic acid, n-decanoic acid, capric acid). This substance has a repellent effect against ticks and has been registered by the European Chemicals Agency for use as an active substance in repellents (product category 19) and pest control (product category 18) since 1.11.2015.

Certificates and test reports

The repellency test protocol 1/2019-FibroTick from the Centre of Applied Research of the University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice determined a reduction in the residence time of adult female Ixodes ricinus ticks on the fabric compared to an equivalent fabric made of fibre without a repellent substance.
