Recently, there has been an increase in the number of ticks in Europe due to warming. Ticks are carriers of encephalitis, Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis, anaplasmosis, babesiosis and other serious diseases that are very difficult to treat. The consequences are very serious, and quite unpleasant. Who would want to spend the beautiful summer season staying in hospital, or at home in bed with pain? Probably no one, so to avoid giving up the experience of being outdoors, or if you do outdoor work, we have developed a special polypropylene Prolen® IXO fibre that reduces the possibility of being infested by the IXODES Ricinus, the tick most commonly found in Europe. Did you know that you can be attacked at temperatures as low as 7 degrees Celsius? In Slovakia, we are plagued with them from early spring until late autumn. Ticks do not only attack animals, wildlife and even humans. Our experts and workers have therefore developed this special fibre, which contains natural substances that are non-irritating to humans, it is made on a natural basis without pesticides and synthetic repellents. It was developed in Slovakia by Chemosvit Fibrochem, s.r.o. in cooperation with the Institute of Parasitology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, the University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice and the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the P.J. Šafárik University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice.
