Prolen® Medical clothing and textiles are made from 100% polypropylene certifiedProlen® Siltex and Prolen®Bodyfresh fibres, which are permanently treated with an antimicrobial additive based on silver and zinc ions registered for use as antimicrobial ingredients under the EU Biocidal Products Directive.

The antimicrobial additives are homogeneously distributed in the Prolen® Siltex and Prolen® Bodyfresh polypropylene fibre mass with efficacy throughout the lifetime of the final product. The Prolen® Medical product line complies with EN 13795-1 and contributes to the prevention of contamination in the hospital setting with a major impact on infections associated with medical and nursing care. Active ingredients with silver and zinc ions provide effective antimicrobial protection, reduce unpleasant odours, ensure hygienic freshness and cleanliness and reduce the risk of cross-contamination.

The antibacterial properties ofProlen® Siltex and Prolen® Bodyfresh fabrics are confirmed by laboratory tests according to the AATCC TM 100:2012 standard (it has been tested for Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus with a reduction of > 99.99%),

The antiviral properties of Prolen® Siltex and Prolen® Bodyfresh are confirmed by a test protocol according to ISO 18184:2019 (Influenza A virus, subtype H1N1 with > 99% reduction and SARS-CoV-2 with 99% reduction in Prolen Bodyfresh).

The antifungal properties are confirmed by a test protocol according to the AATCC 30 standard ( Aspergillus Niger fungus was tested with zero growth in Prolen® Bodyfresh fibre).

Technical properties of Prolen® Medical fabrics
  • Longer lasting than cotton: between 2.5 and 4 g/dtex, wet or dry. Virtually indestructible.
  • Excellent chemical resistance: the fibre does not deteriorate on contact with chemicals such as bleach, mould, insects, sweat or rot.
  • They are not prone to pilling: whether the fabric is dry or wet.
  • High resistance to liquid penetration.
  • Stain resistance: they do not absorb stains or attract dust.
  • Lightness: the result is lower washing costs.
  • No loss of colour when washing.
  • They save energy when washing, drying and ironing.
